Sergey Shukhno: Education is the most developed integration area in the Union State.

Such an opinion was expressed by Sergey Shukhno, Deputy State Secretary of the Union State, at the press conference in Vitebsk. For instance, he reminded that in Belarus there are several branches of Russian universities which function quite successfully: besides the branch of Russian State Social University, in Mogilev there is Belarusian-Russian University. An extremely significant is the fact that at present there functions the Board of Belarusian and Russian Ministries of Education which have worked out a cooperation plan till the year 2011 that was approved at the meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers. Moreover, Belarusian Minister of Culture holds a number of Belarusian-Russian activities on Belarusian territory. One of them started on 15th July on the territory of Vitebsk region – it is a rally of young tourists. 500 schoolchildren from different Russian and Belarusian cities and towns came to this event. On 23rd July in Kaliningrad under the aegis of the Standing Committee and with the assistance of Belarusian and Russian Ministries of Education a rally of young ecologists will take place. Similarly, under the aegis of the Union State Standing Committee the Competition of Russian and Belarusian Schoolchildren has been held several times already.
