Belarusian and Russian scientists cooperate in the sphere of transplantology

In 2007 in Belarus 40 kidney transplant operations were carried out; Republican centre of transplantology and cell biotechnologies is being created; only last week a unique kidney transplant operation was carried out. Viktor Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Health Care of Belarus, unfolded to a www.soyuz.by correspondent further plans of Belarusian doctors in the sphere of transplantology.

According to him it is planned to complete the main stage of Republican centre of transplantology on the basis of the 9th Minsk clinical hospital in 2009. Deputy Minister said that he is ready to increase the extent of medical aid, and it concerns not only complex organ transplantation but also separate tissues and fragments. It is worth also to point out that first in Belarus heart and pancreas transplant operations are planned to be carried out already next year, according to Alexander Kosinets, Belarusian vice-premier.

Apart from that, as V. Rudenko pointed out, there is a long-range goal to enter international bank of organs. “We also have entered into cooperation with Russian colleagues. In particular Russian specialists took place in preparation for liver transplant operation, that has been recently carried out”, added Deputy Minister of Health Care. However he didn’t give a direct answer to the question about the possibility to create a common bank of organs within the scopes of Union state.
