The TV and Radio Organization of the Belarus-Russia Union launched a trial version of the first satellite channel “TRO Soyuz” in September 2007. Later the TRO channel started broadcasting 5 hours per day. “Our audience in Belarus and Russia already reached 5 million people”, – stated the head of the TV and Radio Organization Igor Ugolnikov. According to him, the broadcasting concept of the information and analytical channel will be presented on April 2, 2008 – the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.
“The Union State must have its own television, – stressed Mr. Ugolnikov. – We sent a request for a license for broadcasting to Victor Zubkov, Chairperson of the Union State’s Council of Ministers, and are now waiting for the reply and continue our work”.
He also informed that the TRO administration is carrying on negotiations concerning concluding a contract with the Belarusian channel ONT and a Brest channel for the right of information broadcasting.
“We are ready to a full-scale implementation of all ideas of the Council of Ministers”, – claimed Mr. Ugolnikov.
