Union program can decrease growth of cancer diseases

The scientists from Belarus and Russia proposed to develop a new Union State program “Nuclide” scheduled for 4 months. The incentive for the development of the draft program was a dramatic and continuing to grow the number of cancer diseases.

The scientists from Belarus and Russia proposed to develop a new Union State program “Nuclide” scheduled for 4 months. The incentive for the development of the draft program was a dramatic and continuing to grow the number of cancer diseases.

For example in Belarus the diseases of this kind appear to be the reason of 15-17% of deaths and their spread continues to grow.

As it was reported to a www.soyuz.by correspondent in National Academy of Science of Belarus, today the annual consumption of the main means of nuclear medicine technetium-99 in Belarus and Russia equals its two-three day consumption in the USA health care system.

One of the reasons for this situation is the high cost of many radiopharmaceuticals that makes them not easily accessible for the great masses of population.

According to the experts, the implementation of such a program (the full name of which is “Development and introduction of new age technologies for production of radio nuclides and radiopharmaceuticals for diagnosing and treatment of cancer diseases”) will allow to some extent to solve the problem of providing population of the both states with the most important diagnostic and therapeutic radio nuclides. There will be a real possibility to establish centers for production of radiopharmaceuticals that will provide the population of Belarus and Russia with modern and cheap medical methods of examination and treatment.

It is supposed that economic effect will be so that with the expectant amounts of production of radio nuclides and radiopharmaceuticals the age of the estimated financial funds will not exceed five years.
