The concept of social development of the Union State significantly broadens the issues of child social protection, said Head of the Department of Social Policy and Information Support of the Union State Standing Committee Tatiana Kovaleva during a videoconference.
“The concept of social development for the years 2011-2015 significantly extends the issues of child protection and prioritizes bringing up children subject. For the first time it addresses the problems of the most destitute and deprived children,” said the Head of the Department.
Tatiana Kovaleva also noted that “Belarus and Russia have common approaches to policy on childhood”. She also proposed that the Ministries of Education of both countries should publish a comparative report on the state of child social protection in Russia and Belarus.
The Head of the Department stated that “at present there are no large-scale programmes aimed at child protection”. However, she noted that at present on the proposal of Pavel Borodin a pediatric oncology programme is being conceptualized.
