A New Vegetable Production Union Program launches in 2012

Belarus and Russia will implement a joint development program for greenhouse vegetable and mushroom production within the Union State. The news was reported during a press conference by Alexander Autko, the director of Belarus Institute of Vegetable Crops of NAS. According to him, " the draft program has already been approved by the Ministries of Agriculture of Russia and Belarus and is being prepared for approval at the governmental level." Moreover, he noted, that the program should begin in 2012. At the same time the work on the project can be started in the second half of the next year. Alexander Autko said that the draft program provides in particular improving the design of greenhouses. "The Belarusian side requested to develop a greenhouse with a plastic coating, equipment for growing greenhouse vegetables and new technologies to grow vegetables," - the director of the institute explained. He also said that Russia's share in the financing of the Union State program is 65%, and the Belarusian is 35%.
