Next year scientists of Belarus and Russia are planning to launch the fourth space program of The Union State “Monitoring-SG”. This information was given on October 4 by executive director of Belarussian-Russian space programs of the United Institute of Informatics Problems (UIIP) of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Korenyako at the “Space research in the CIS member states: integration, potential for development, and legal aspects” International Research and Practice Conference in Moscow.
“I hope that in 2012 the program will be approved and launched” – said Sergei Korenyako and then added that “Monitoring-SG” program has been agreed upon with all Belarusian ministries and is on the final stage of approval by Russian Ministry of Finance.
“Monitoring-SG” union program is planned to be realized during 2012-2016. It is the next step in a long-term cooperation on the integration of land and orbital space systems of Belarus and Russia, as well as on the integration of intellectual and industrial resources for study and use of outer space for peaceful purposes. New program involves development of new technical and hardware-software means of ground control, receiving, processing and distribution of space information, as well as usage of Russian and Belarussian space vehicles satellite constellation. New samples of on-board and ground, dedicated and scientific equipment, materials and advanced element base with improved performance will be created within the framework of the program. Besides, it is planned to develop hardware-software complexes and teaching tools for training, retraining and advanced training of specialists in remote earth sounding using current computer, information and telecommunication technologies.
