First CIS full cycle production company specialized in microwave ovens has been opened in Belarus

He pointed out that at the new plant “Midea – Horizont” a full cycle of technological process is carried out, the end result of which is “modern quality product able to compete at the market”.

Director general explained that the company is unique for the CIS market due to its own production of cases produced when using Japanese technologies and with up-to-date equipment. He added that Media-Horizont sell integrated products as well as their components, for example cases.

Yuri Predko underlined that on the CIS territory cases for microwave ovens are not produced but delivered to the plants that assemble ovens, other countries , in particular form China. Besides, the production of cases will enable Belarusian plant not only to produce quality ovens corresponding to world safe and ecological standards but also to save on logistics.

the production of cases in Belarus makes it possible to deliver the production to Russia without taxes. Yuri Predko explained that “this year a decision was made by Russian government that gives the company even more advantages: compulsory condition for granting ST-1 certificate (about the country of goods’ origin) is production of cases”. Director General underlined that “Media-Horizont” is the resident of the free economic zone that enables it to use a whole range of benefits.

The capacity of the plant allows to produce up to 1 million units a year. Yuri Predko said that such a plant opened in Belarus gives an opportunity to assembly enterprise and companies who own those or these brands of CIS of other countries to make orders at the Media –Horizont for components and finished products. Director general said that the company has already received first contracts for ovens production.

Global financial crisis affects the market of microwaves in the least way unlike the markets of other goods. Yuri Predko explained that in new economic conditions people spend more time at home, facilitating their homes and prefer to eat at home rather than out. Director general added that microwave ovens are a very accessible product sold at reasonable prices, compact, safe and easy to cook in.

Last year according to some experts’ estimates, volume of microwave ovens produced in CIS countries made up about 7,5 million units.

We remind that “Horizont” company was created in 1950 and transformed into public corporation in 2003 and than, as a result of restructuring it was reformed into a holding company in 2008. Today “Horizont” isone of the largest companies producing TV-sets and other household appliances in Belarus and CIS countries. Net avails in 2008 reached 75 million dollars. In October 2007 public corporation “Horizont” established joint company together with Midea Group. Construction works started in April 2008. Today statutory fund of the joint company makes up 7 million dollars and “Horizont” has 70 % of shares.
