At the press conference “Agroecotourism in the Republic of Belarus: state and outlook for development”, Deputy Minister of Sport and Tourism of Belarus Cheslav Shulga said that weekend trips are the best sellers among Russian tourists throughout the year.

According to the Deputy Minister, the main reason for that is an attractive combination of the price and quality of Belarusian holidays. At some weekends Russian tourists book half of Belarusian resorts. In this respect, noted Ch.Shulga, it is necessary to expand the range of tourist services at the most attractive for tourists Belarusian resorts, such as Silichi, Raubichi, Naroch, Braslav and others.

Belarusian and Russian regions have established close tourism relations, noted Deputy Minister of Sport and Tourism. For instance, citizens of Leningrad and St. Petersburg spend their holidays mostly in Vitebsk region, while citizens of Moscow and Moscow area – in Vitebsk and Mogilev regions.

Russian party takes a great interest in Belarusian agroecotourism, reported Ch.Shulga. He reminded that in spring 2008 agroecotourism experience was generalized at the regular meeting of the Council on Tourism of CIS member-countries. At the meeting the Russian delegates showed an interest in Belarusian tourism projects and brought forward a joint project for press coverage. However, Deputy Minister specified that the source of project finance has not been assigned yet. Efficient information support mobilized for agroecotourism development will make it possible to increase the attractiveness of such services among Russian consumers.
