According to the director of the Institute, the international forum traditionally looked into the problems of the Union State media. More than 50 people took part in the work of the breakup group “The Union State and the media”: members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, representatives of mass media of the Union State, Belarus and the Russian Federation, members of the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly and the Union State Standing Committee.

Dubovik stated that “the development of the information field of the two states (Belarus and Russia, ref. www.soyuz.by) has been the main issue under discussion within the breakup group.” Moreover, the participants brought up a question concerning the difficulties in distributing Belarusian mass media in Russia. Electronic versions of printed press of the Union State are also seen as no less important a question.

The work of the breakup group resulted in relevant recommendations. Among them S. Dubovik pointed out the necessity to promote the ideas of the Union State formation; intensive use of the Internet environment. Besides that, S. Dubovik noted that Russian and Belarusian universities should continue the custom of training journalists who would specialize in covering union themes.
