According to him, as far as Belarus is located in the centre of Belarus the significance of Belarusian airspace in European region is rising with each year. “Belaeronavigation” ensures security of more than 180 thousand internal and international flights annually. At present computer-based airfield system of air-traffic control «Sintez- АР 2» used by “Belaeronavigation” is one of the best systems in the European region.

As the General Director noted, air traffic is serviced by the corresponding centres and air traffic services of the state-run enterprise “Belaeronavigation” in close cooperation with analogous centres in the neighbouring countries – the Russian Federation, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Ukraine. Thanks to the concerted activities of experts the aircraft fly using the shortest routs and economy modes. In collaboration with International Civil Aviation Organization and European Control, “Belaeronavigation” implemented the projects that aim to increase the traffic capacity of Belarusian airspace.

“The main point that attracts foreign airlines is the high quality of national air navigation service and radio engineering provisions, the high level of specialists’ training as well as the fact that all the seven Belarusian airfields have the right to service international flights,” said Leonid Churo. In September 2007 auditing the fulfillment of guidelines in the sphere of air safety the representative of International Civil Aviation Organization confirmed that air safety in Belarus corresponds to ICAO international standards”.
