This year it is planned to finish the construction and set into operation the customs check point “Domachevo” on border with Poland. The information was given by the official site of the State customs committee, with reference to the words of the deputy chairman of the State customs committee of Belarus Leonid Dosov.

In long-term plans of the customs department there is also the arrangement of the international check points «Verhni Terebezhov» and "Mokhro" on border with Ukraine and "Urbany" on the Latvian direction which are currently equipped only in accordance with the time scheme. Since more than thirds of the total volume of the transit passing through these points are Russian cargoes, State customs committe suggested carrying out their rearrangement within the scopes of the new Union State program, the site cites the words of the deputy chairman of the State Customs Committee.

According to Leonid Dosov, the program on development of the infrastructure of the road check points on Union State external border on the territory of Belarus will be planned for the period from 2009 till 2012. Besides the reconstruction of the above mentioned check points, it provides the completion of construction of the frontier freight terminal "Kozlovichi-2".

«At the moment the State customs committee has already prepared all necessary documents for discussion of this problem with the Russian side», Leonid Dosov is cited by the site.

We would remind that the first union program on prime development of customs infrastructure of frontier check points was adopted by Belarus and Russia in 1997. The program included eight frontier transitions to the major directions: “Kammenni Log”, “novaya Guta”, “Kozlovichi”, “Varshavski Most”, “Berestovitsa”, “ Bruzgi”, “Novaya Rudnya” and “Mokrany”. However, due to the irregular financing it was impossible to finish this program in 2001. There was a new program developed for the period till 2004. Later Union State Council of Ministers prolonged the period of its implementation till 2005, and then for another two years. In total there has been 1,624 billion Russian roubles allocated from the Union State budget for the development of the customs infrastructure.
