New Border Check-Point “Domachevo” Opened at Western Frontier of Customs Union

An inauguration ceremony of the check-point “Domachevo” was held at the Belarusian-Polish border (Brest region) on September 20th, reports the correspondent of www.soyuz.by

The opening was attended by Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus Alexander Shpilevski, Chairman of the Customs Control Committee at the Finance Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Baimaganbetov, Chairman of Brest Regional Executive Committee Konstantin Sumar, as well as representatives of the State Customs Committee and the State Border Committee of Belarus, etc.

During the ceremony Alexander Shpilevski said that the construction of frontier and customs infrastructure at the Belarusian section of the border check-point “Domachevo” was carried out in accordance with the Comprehensive Programme of Infrastructure Development at the State Border Road Checkpoints. 50 billion Belarusian rubles has been allocated from the state budget to build this facility. Fundamental changes in frontier infrastructure made it possible to create comfortable conditions both for the passengers crossing the border and the services involved in exercising state control at the border. The group of buildings constructed has an original architectural aspect. Customs clearance point “Domachevo” is equipped with modern means of technical control, is computerized and connected to high-speed data lines.

During the construction of the check-point they took into account the prospects of its development in view of increasing traffic and passenger flows. For instance, the facilities of the check-point and its equipment make it possible to admit trucks. “If there are adequate facilities on Polish area, then functions of this check-point can be expanded,” said Alexander Shpilevski at the press conference.

During the opening ceremony the guests and participants got acquainted with the whole complex of buildings and communications at the new check-point. They were shown all the capabilities of the state-of-the-art equipment that the check-point is equipped with and saw an exhibition performance of a dog service unit which detects smuggling of drugs and detains criminals.

As previously reported, the capacity of the check-point “Domachevo” is 2250 cars per day. Both motor cars, vehicles with load-capacity up to 3.5 tons and passenger vans for up to 9 people can be let through.
