Russian sportsmen gave high marks to the shooting gallery of Brest regional school of higher sportsmanship and expressed willingness to visit Brest more often in order to exchange experience and compete, reports “Brestskaya Gazeta”.

“Nowhere in Russia will you find such shooting galleries and such facilities as in Brest,” stated head of regional DOSAAF pistol club in Smolensk Sergey Petrov. “The first thing I’d like to point out is local hospitality. Enclosed space is also important for training shooters in the cold season. Secondly, organizational level of competitions is rather high. And thirdly, which is of no small importance, Brest shooting gallery has such shooting facility as “Askor”. According to the Russian guest, at all European and world championships as well as at the Olympic Games competitors shoot at “Askors”. In Russia only complex “Lisiya Nora” (“Kennel”) situated near Moscow has such facilities.

“We would like to train our sportsmen by shooting at “Askors,” he added. “We have put forward an initiative to restore competitions among Russian and Belarusian schools of Olympic reserve. In the present case it was Brest school of higher sportsmanship that supported our initiative”.

Brest and Smolensk clubs have made a decision to conclude an agreement on exchange of experience and participation in competitions and would be glad if they were supported. The coach of Belarus’ national shooting team Igor Basinski “is all for it”: “It will favour the development of this sport. Brest shooting gallery is really one of the best in Europe. It has state-of-the-art equipment. It is not for nothing that Belarusian national team trains here. So, competitions among schools of Olympic reserve, match meetings as well as team practice sessions can be held at this sports base”.
