“AiF v Belorussii” chief editor is in mass media coordination council under Council of Ministers of Belarus

The chief editor of “AiF v Belorussii” Igor Sokolov has been included into the social coordination council in the sphere of mass media under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.

The chief editor of “AiF v Belorussii” Igor Sokolov has been included into the social coordination council in the sphere of mass media under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.

First vice–premier of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Semashko signed the resolution about the creation of social coordination council in the sphere of mass media under the Council of Ministers. Together with the most influential leaders, representatives of state mass media, Ministry of Information and Journalists’ Union there is just one representative of non-governmental print publication – chief editor of the weekly “AiF v Belarussii” Igor Sokolov.

According to the experts’ opinion the decision was dictated by the fact that the publication headed for many years by one of the most known and competent media-directors of Belarus, is in top three weekly leaders at the market of print media of the Republic of Belarus and traditionally demonstrates its objectivity in the coverage of the most various issues of social and economic situation in Belarus and CIS.

The creation of the council is mentioned in the new Belarusian law “On Mass Media”. In compliance with the approved by the regulation provision “About social coordination council in the sphere of mass media” the council “is a social consulting and coordination body and is created for the purpose of realization and protection of citizens’ right to the freedom of receiving and distributing information”.
