“Exhibition “MILEX-2011” opened in Minsk on May 24th. More than 130 organizations from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Armenia are taking part in this arms forum,” reads “Narodnaya Gazeta” (25.05.11).
Defense exhibit “MILEX-2011” is “a reliable and promising marketing platform,” said Chairman of the State Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus S. Gurulev. He also noted that “about 40 large Russian defense enterprises use in their production the goods that are manufactured by the enterprises of Belarusian arms industry” (“Belorusskaya Voennaya Gazeta”, 26.05.11).
“Over the last ten years, cooperation between Belarus and Russia has developed rapidly,” such an opinion was expressed by State Secretary of the Union State Pavel Borodin on the eve of the international exhibition of armaments and military equipment “MILEX-2011”. “Let’s examine the history. In the year 2000, I travelled all over Belarus and a half of Russia. All factories both in Belarus and in Russia were at a standstill. By the end of 1999 the turnover between our states totalled $6.8 billion. It included oil and gas supplies to Belarus, oil and gas transit through Belarus to the EU. Now the turnover makes up $34 billion,” he said (“Soyuz.by”, 25.05.11).
“The issue of delivering to Belarus the state-of-the-art anti-aircraft missile system C-400 “Triumf” has been practically settled,” said State Secretary of the Union State Pavel Borodin, according to “Interfax-Zapad” (25.05.11). “It will be based on the territory of Belarus and Russia. We have a common territory, we do not have borders”.
“The most interesting and promising products are the result of cooperation between Russian and Belarusian experts,” summarizes “Soyuz. Belarus – Rossiya” (26.05.2011).
