“Belarusians of the Urals” Collect Money for Monument to Vladimir Mulyavin

“At present the main problem is to choose a place for the memorial. And then we are planning to hold a contest and launch a big fund-raising campaign. We have already started collecting money within the diaspora, but we understand that on the whole it is not an easy task,” said Deputy Chairman of the Council of the organization “Belarusians of the Urals” Pavel Saenko in Mogilev on January 10th.

According to him, the initiative to erect a monument to Vladimir Mulyavin comes from “Belarusians of the Urals” and Embassy of Belarus to Russia. It was also supported by the city government. As is reported by BelaPAN, on the wall of the five-story house where Mulyavin lived in Yekaterinburg there is now a memorial plate.

Pavel Saenko noted that the exact amount of money needed to create and erect the monument will be determined by its authors. According to him, the contest for the best design of the monument may be held Russia-wide.

Pavel Saenko believes that the monument to the native of Yekaterinburg Vladimir Mulyavin will be unveiled in 2014.
