Vitebsk Plans to Extend Trade and Economic Relations with Murmansk

On 21st-22nd July, 2008 the delegation from Vitebsk region of the Republic of Belarus visited Murmansk. Belarusian delegation included Alexander Kolbasich, Chairman of Glubokoe District Council of Deputies; Leonid Barilo, General Manager of the public corporation “Glubokoe Canning Factory”; Valeriy Dulinskiy, Director of the public corporation “Glubokoe Concentrated Milk Factory”.

On 21st-22nd July, 2008 the delegation from Vitebsk region of the Republic of Belarus visited Murmansk. Belarusian delegation included Alexander Kolbasich, Chairman of Glubokoe District Council of Deputies; Leonid Barilo, General Manager of the public corporation “Glubokoe Canning Factory”; Valeriy Dulinskiy, Director of the public corporation “Glubokoe Concentrated Milk Factory”.

During this visit the delegation met the representatives of the regional construction department as well as of housing and communal services, while at the North Chamber of Commerce and Industry – the representatives of Murmank business community. The participants of the meetings discussed the outlook for the establishment of joint manufactures in the area of agriculture, food and construction industries.

In Murmansk Regional Duma Belarusians had a meeting with Alexander Krupaderov, acting Chairman of the regional parliament. He noted that cooperation between Belarus and Murmansk region has long-established traditions and develops in a dynamic way in various areas. During the conversation the parties discussed different variants of trade and economic cooperation, in particular, the establishment of joint ventures processing and producing agricultural, meat and dairy as well as fish products in the arctic circle. Belarusian guests stressed that the purpose of their visit was the opportunity to make direct contacts between Vitebsk and Murmansk entrepreneurs. They also shared their plans to export agricultural produce for Murmansk residents and military units based on the territory of Murmansk region.

In conclusion, A. Krupaderov expressed hope that the visit of Belarusian delegation will become an important stage in the development of a market society and exchange of experience between the two states in trade and production spheres.

In his turn, Valeriy Talichkin, Deputy Governor of Murmansk region, told the guests about the socio-economic situation in the region and peculiarities of the territory beyond the Arctic Circle. The representatives of Belarusian delegation shared the perspectives of the development of Glubokoe region and noted that the main aim of the working visit was to extend contacts for further cooperation.
