Belarusian government delegation is to visit St. Petersburg

On February, 27, 2009 Belarusian government delegation with Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Sidorski at the head will visit St. Petersburg. According to the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Andrei Popov, the meeting of Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Sidorski with Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko, the second meeting of the Council of business cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and St. Petersburg, the visit of St. Petersburg scientific centre of Russian academy of science and the meeting with its chairman, academician Zhores Alferov are scheduled for the time of the visit. At the meeting of the Council of business cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and St. Petersburg the parties are planning to discuss the results of program documents fulfillment, spheres of cooperation in the new economic conditions, questions of mutual trade sustainability maintenance in 2009 and expansion of scientific and technical and industrial and cooperation relations. It is supposed also to consider perspectives of increase of agriculture processing products deliveries and food items, creation of retail trade net for the sale of Belarusian products, construction and energy cooperation plans and proposals about Belarusian equipment deliveries to St. Petersburg. In follow-up of the meeting it is planned to sign the Program on trade and economic, scientific and technical and humanitarian cooperation between Government of the Republic of Belarus and Government of St. Petersburg of the Russian Federation for 2009-2011 and the appropriate Report on the second meeting of the Council of business cooperation. It was also reported in the press-service of Belarusian foreign-policy department that St. Petersburg is one of the most important trade and economic partners of Belarus among other Russian regions.
