Moscow hosted the meeting of the Coordinating Council of the CSTO

In Moscow on November 22 in the CSTO Joint Staff the next (ninth) meeting of the Coordinating Council of the competent authorities heads took place to combat drug trafficking (KSOPN) in CSTO member states. The CSTO Secretariat reported to the correspondent of www.soyuz.by. At the last meeting, a presentation was made by Viktor Ivanov Chairman of the Coordinating Council - Director of Russian Federal Service for Drug Control. The meeting was also attended by Nikolai Bordyuzha the CSTO Secretary General.

Regional specialists have summed up the international anti-drug operation "Channel 2010", held from 16 to 22 November 2010, which was carried out to shut down the smuggling of Afghan opiates suppress illicit diversion of precursor chemicals into Afghanistan, synthetic drugs from Europe and cocaine from Latin America to the territory of Eurasia including by the Black and Caspian seas. As reported by the Secretariat, in accordance with the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council adopted on September 5, 2008 "On additional measures to strengthen anti-drug activities within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty" comprehensive preventive operation "Channel" was given "the status of permanent regional anti-drug operations of the Collective Security Treaty".

In the work of the International Coordinating Staff operation "Channel-2010" was also attended by representatives of the Eurasian Group on combating money laundering and terrorist financing, the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS, the Council of CIS Border Troops Commanders, the executive bodies of the Russian Federation, the observers from Europol, as well as anti-drug agencies in countries such as USA, China, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Bulgaria, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Venezuela, Iran.
