Cultural life of Minsk in November is traditionally associated with the cinema. And this year is not an exception: XV Minsk International Film Festival “Listopad” will take place in Minsk from 15th to 24th November. This year 150 films from more than 20 countries are to be presented at the festival.
On the whole, according to Valentina Stepanova, Director of Minsk International Film Festival “Listopad”, judging both by presence and the level the forthcoming festival will be an all-time one. For instance, the weeks of Russian, French, Iranian and Kazakh films as well as an “echo” of international film festivals will be held within the framework of the XV festival. Besides that, the festival organizes master-classes of Stanislav Govorukhin, Alexander Sokurov and Leonid Mozgovoy. An anniversary evening of Anatoliy Kotenev as well as commemoration meetings dedicated to the jubilees of a cameraman Yuriy Marukhin and a director Mikhail Ptashuk will be held as well.
Besides presenting films the festival will also organize an exhibition of photo portraits of theatre and cinema actors made by Oleg Silvanovich, a photo exhibition of a director and a cameraman Igor Byshnev as well as an exhibition of pictorial works of Stanislav Govorukhin.
What is more, the festival will hold the events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Belarusian, Russian and Ukrainian Screen Actors Guild as well as to the centenary of the Russian cinema; a round table concerning the problems and prospects of television film production; presentation of the awards to film critics, journalists, editions, TV and radio programmes for covering festival events; and a lot more.
It is expected that the International jury of the anniversary International Film Festival “Listopad” will be headed by Valeriy Todorovskiy.
