Union Council of Ministers’ Board to Take Place in Minsk on October 6th

He noted that during the meeting prime ministers of Belarus and Russia will examine about 15 issues concerning Belarusian-Russian integration.

The main set of issues that are to be considered by the Heads of Governments will be devoted to the economic side of cooperation. In particular, Vladimir Putin and Sergey Sidorskiy will evaluate the results of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries for the first six months of the year 2008 as well as consider draft budget of the Union State for the year 2009 including the problems concerning management of the union property. Besides that, A.Komisarchuk noted that the changes of budget parameters for the next financial year would be discussed separately as far as bases of Belarusian and Russian contribution to the union revenue increased.

The Council of Ministers will also examine a number of union programmes, long-term plans and agreements: draft intergovernmental agreement on development of cooperation in the field of production and reciprocal deliveries of medicaments as well as draft Plan of joint activities that secure functioning of regional force group of Belarus and the Russian Federation in the year 2009. Furthermore, they will draw up a list of first-priority scientific and technological as well as innovation programmes and projects of the Union State in order to ensure their further development, approval and implementation.

Moreover, the Council of Ministers will be submitted two draft programmes: “BelRosTransgen-2” and a new programme in the sphere of nanotechnologies.

The Prime Ministers will also hear the reports on the progress of a full-length feature film “Brest Fortress”, on the work of hydrometeorologists of the two countries as well as settle some other minor issues.
