Free trade area agreement to be discussed in Moscow

The Union State bison breeding programme to provide a safety net for the species

The implementation of the Union State programme focussing on providing an ideal habitat for the European bison, in order to guarantee for its long-term presence (Roadmap for Bison) in 2014-2018, will provide an additional safety net for the species. Mikhail Nikiforov, the Director General of the Sci-Tech Centre for Bioresources under the National Academy of Sciences, reported this to BELTA at the 8th CIS Forum of Creative and Academic Intellectuals.

Belarus and EC discuss prospects for practical cooperation

Belarus and the European Union have discussed the prospects for practical cooperation. Second stage of the ‘West-2013’ joint military exercise begins

Russia and Belarus have started the second stage of the ‘West-2013’ joint military exercise. During the second phase the united command of the military forces will establish its ability to coordinate the military measures intended to stabilise the situation in the interests of military security of the Union State of Belarus and of Russia.

Gas to the Kaliningrad underground gas storage facility to be delivered via Belarusian pipeline

The Kaliningrad Region has commissioned the first stage of its underground gas storage facility. Gas will be delivered to the storage facility along the Minsk-Vilnius-Kaunas-Kaliningrad pipeline. BELTA has learned this from the Information Department of Gazprom.

Russian Federation Government approves a draft federal budget for 2014-2016

At its meeting, the Government of Russia approved a draft federal budget for 2014 - 2016. According to forecasts by the Ministry of Finance, in 2014, the federal budget deficit could reach RUR 373.1 billion. Projections for 2015 indicate that the figure will be 1% of GDP (RUR 826.3 billion). In 2016 the budget deficit may reach RUR 485.7 billion, or 0.6% of GDP.
