On 28 August Minsk hosted the fifth visiting session of the Advisory Committee on Customs Regulation. The session was chaired by Vladimir Goshin, a member of the Board for Customs Cooperation (the Minister for Customs Cooperation) at the Eurasian Economic Commission. Representatives of several ministries, departments, and business communities from the Customs Union States and the Common Economic Space of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia took part in the session.

Following the results of the first half of 2013 Minsk raised net foreign direct investments to the value of USD 962 million. The sum exceeded the annual target, which, in turn, reached USD 950 million. Zhanna Birich, the Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee reported this at the meeting of the City Executive Committee held yesterday.

Due to African swine fever, Lithuania will not be collecting payments for the disinfection of freight traffic at the border for the time being. BELTA has learned that the decision was made by Algirdas Butkevicius, the Prime Minister of Lithuania, after talking to representatives of the European Commission, which is likely to cover the costs.

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has reported to the Prime agency that the Customs Unions of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan may change the conditions for trade relations with Ukraine should Kiev sign an association agreement with the European Union, however the conditions will still be no tighter than those for other WTO countries.

Participants considered issues around hydrometeorological cooperation. The Collegium noted that a wealth of experience had already been accumulated through the continuous exchange of information between the departments comprising the Russian and Belarusian Services for Hydrometeorology and Pollution Monitoring of the Natural Environment, in order to promote the social and economic development of both countries.
