Russian army launches tank biathlon competitions
Starting in 2014 the Russian army will host tank biathlon competitions on a regular basis. The current competition between tank crews is being organised in Alabino, near Moscow on 17 August 2013. Interfax and Lenta.ru have provided details of the competition with a link to a Ministry of Defence press conference which was held in Moscow.

“Steal Belmondo” comedy by Belarusfilm Studio to take part in the ”Kinishok” Festival
The Belarusfilm Studio has reported to BELTA that its comedy “Steal Belmondo” (directed by Nikolay Knyazev in 2012) will form part of the non-competitive programme of full-length feature films “Kino na Ploshchadi” at the 22nd “Kinoshok” Open Film Festival for the CIS countries and Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

CIS countries to update the digital bulletin containing changes of geographical names
The digital bulletin containing changes of geographical names in the CIS countries is to be updated. Efforts to that effect will be discussed at the session of the CIS Interstate Council for Geodesy, Cartography, Cadastral and Remote Sensing of the Earth in the Belovezhskaya Pushcha national park in Belarus between 20 - 24 August.

In the first half of 2013 foreign investments into the Belarusian economy increased by 12.5% up to USD 7.8 billion
In the first half of 2013 foreign investors poured USD 7.8 billion into the real sector (excludes banks etc.) of the Belarusian economy. This is up 12.5% from the same period of the previous year as reported to BELTA by the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.

NEMAN Glass Plants in Grodno (Belarus) and Kursk come to an agreement

Kazakhstan has changed its terms and conditions for the transit of international vehicles. The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus has reported this to BELTA but referred it to the Embassy of Belarus in Kazakhstan.

Rescue services of Belarus, Latvia and Lithuania devise strategies for cross-border projects
Representatives of the rescue services of Belarus, Lithuania, and Latvia held two meetings in Lithuania in early August as part of their cross-border cooperation. The press service of the Emergency Situations Ministry of Belarus told BELTA that, during the meetings, the sides worked out common strategies for two projects.

Coca-Cola in Belarus proposes to stop marking non-alcoholic beverages with check symbols
Coca-Cola Beverages Belarus proposes to discontinue marking its non-alcoholic beverages with check symbols. Andrey Roshchupkin, the First Deputy General Director of Coca-Cola Beverages, Belarus, reported this at a press conference. He said that such marking of the products reduces the effectiveness of the production line, while poor marking quality affects the production process.
